We went to the Apple store. I played with a new iPad Pro. Tried hard not to like it, but it was a really pleasant experience.

The demo iPad had a great note-taking app that could help my search for an app that let me handwrite notes and then search through their content later.

Been messing with Windows and WSL 2 more lately. So we went to the Microsoft store too. I tried hard to like it, but everything felt a little clumsy and disappointing after the smoothness of the Apple devices.

When I got home I had to find and install GoodNotes, the notebook app I played with at the Apple Store, on my own iPad. Yeah I like it. This will come in real handy.

Oh and I want a matte screen protector. Supposedly gives you more of a paper feel when working on the iPad.

    Installed Windows Terminal Preview

Windows partition is Fast Ring now, but that took the full night. All I had time for this morning was installing the fancy – and open source! – terminal preview from the Windows Store.

I’ll finish breaking my computer after work. BTW, still figuring out build numbers but I don’t think Windows Insider builds are required to install the terminal preview. May 2019 update should be fine.

  • Wanting WSL 2

Been impatiently waiting for the general release of WSL 2 – the Windows Subsystem for Linux. What’s interesting about WSL 2?

WSL 2 delivers a much faster file system performance and full system call compatibility, which lets you run more applications like Docker!

Looks like it’s scheduled to go out in the first half of 2020. So I can either wait several months or switch my rarely-used Windows partition to the Insider Ring.

I should at least wait until Build 18917 or later shows up in the Slow Ring on Flight Hub.

    fidgets a lot

    We’ll see.
