Getting work done on one machine, trying Manjaro with KDE on the other. I got used to GNOME Shell, which also means I got used to how slow it is. KDE’s pretty heavy-weight too, but so much snappier.

Living across the street from the only late night boba tea place in the area would probably be better if not for: a) the drinks are bad; b) the straight pipe exhaust teen club starts 11-ish nightly.

Windows partition is Fast Ring now, but that took the full night. All I had time for this morning was installing the fancy – and open source! – terminal preview from the Windows Store.

I’ll finish breaking my computer after work. BTW, still figuring out build numbers but I don’t think Windows Insider builds are required to install the terminal preview. May 2019 update should be fine.

Haven’t done anything interesting related to Raku for years, but I still subscribe to the Perl 6 Weekly blog. Several links caught my eye this week.

• Jeff Goff started a fresh series on implementing Template Toolkit in Perl 6.
• Madeleine Goebel is making great progress on a GSOC project making perl6 produce executable binaries
• Andrew Shitov wrote a pleasant baby steps sort of intro on using NativeCall for accessing C libraries from Perl 6.
• Some sort of Chef/Ansible style task runner, called Sparrow6

Have fun. When the web took off in the 90’s people began designing personal sites with tools such as GeoCities. These spaces had Java applets, garish green background and seventeen animated GIFs. It may have been ugly and badly coded but it was fun. Keep the web weird and interesting.

Have a few draft blog posts that I need to get back to, but I swear I’m working on the documenting part. And there’s not much to open-source yet. It’s mostly process, which — yeah — needs to be documented.
