I understand the fuss over GIMP’s name, but it distracts from the more important point: it’s not a good app.

They built a whole GUI framework for it & then a whole desktop around that and it still stands out like a broken thumb.

Twenty-odd years ago we were ecstatic someone came up with anything relevant in FOSS for a non-dev domain, regardless of how clunky it was.

That hasn’t been good enough for a while, and some apps are relics in more than just the way they were named.
