@maddiefuzz I’ve thought about similar. Long toots get links at the end with this cross-poster.

Could always make a cross-poster that’s just “I TOOTED” and the link — let Twitter figure out the rest from the metadata.

@gizmomathboy The training course is interesting, as it describes some platonic ideal agile org that honestly could not exist in the world.

@IamMrsGeek There are some rough flu variants, that’s for sure. Fingers crossed that it’s something very minor.

@fortyseven It’s different enough that I’ve never quite gone Twitter-free, but it’s sufficiently more pleasant to use that reprioritizing has not been painful — especially since each wave from Twitter a few more folks stick around.

@masukomi Well, you’ve got the “microservices for everything” crowd but micro is too much for the CGI case and too little for the monolith case.

But not to worry! We’ve got serverless, which is billable CGI.

A thing going around about disenchantment with tech companies and generally they’re not wrong but I have rarely been excited about what VCFundedTechCo has ever promised me.

My excitement’s always been for the personal projects & small tech. Those are still awesome.

hackers.town: 2022-10-24 Mon 07:54

I mean on the spectrum of social apps / frameworks / thingies you’ve got Kinopio, Are.na, Mastodon, GNU Social, Plurk (which has some kind of funding but I said rarely not never), IndieWeb (which ok yes clunky but it’s an option!)

hackers.town: 2022-10-24 Mon 08:00

I’m not saying the services pitched and sold by heavily funded tech are bad (though they often are or probably will be by the time their exit strategy is implemented).

I’m just saying I’m not the target market for what they’re selling.

hackers.town: 2022-10-24 Mon 09:57

@masukomi And I’d say a fair number of the scenarios where CGI doesn’t work is because we’ve over-complicated the problem.

Don’t get me wrong, there are problems appropriate to each of the common approaches. But we got a whole lot of folks out there sanding out the square holes to fit their favorite round peg.
