@mwop Nothing yet, as I’m still in vacation mode. But yep, edit via nb later is my intent.

I’d likely handle bookmarking with a post-processing script:

@mwop (the importer script is simple enough that it could be a bash file for those with that preference)

@thegibson we’re just trying to get home. Flight’s delayed a couple hours. Pants are in bags, ready for quick change on arrival at SEA. Gonna be icy tomorrow, but sounds like our Hawai’i storm will be warming things up in the PNW and then flooding them on Saturday yayyy

There’s another couple from the vicinity of Seattle on this eight hour tour and they talk a lot about tech and Twitter and stuff I have opinions on, and they are not awful opinions, but I have not participated in their conversation because they talked a lot and my ears are tired.

Given my habit of being on many social networks and sharing what I find on other social networks, guess I’ll follow the new Twitter TOS by editing my profile, deleting my tweets, disabling the forwarder, and setting twitter.com to 127.0.0.1 in
/etc/hosts

Supposedly that policy change only covers accounts that exist primarily to promote other networks, but good luck convincing Twitter that your recent name change to “at fuck elon at twittersucksworsenow dot social” is just the most amazing coincidence and not promoting another network.

Supposedly that policy change only covers accounts that exist primarily to promote other networks, but good luck convincing Twitter that your recent name change to “at fuck elon at twittersucksworsenow dot social” is just the most amazing coincidence and not promoting another network.

And more realistically, artist / music / crafter promotional accounts are really and properly screwed.

hackers.town: 2022-12-18 Sun 11:34

And this policy change can only be intended to reduce Twitter’s population to True Believers via attrition, as the rest get tired of repeatedly defending their repeatedly reported / autodetected links, and kill their accounts.

hackers.town: 2022-12-18 Sun 18:02

Whole lot of familiar faces coming into the Fediverse via Mastodon and hey welcome! I’d tell you all you gotta do is be cool but I already know you’re cool so that’s redundant. Have fun!

hackers.town: 2022-12-18 Sun 18:05

Was grumbling about inconsiderate fellow tourists. Started something like “fucking rich white people –” and uh hang on there.

I know – technically a mix and not “buy a social network so I can kill it” rich, but awful pasty and never could’ve imagined vacation in Hawai’i as a kid.

So uh yeah. Anyways. Stupid tourists–DAMMIT never mind

hackers.town: 2022-12-18 Sun 18:09

@WuMargaret Plus there’s something broken in every American mirror where we can’t see ourselves as poor – “inconvenienced millionaires” was Steinbeck’s line I think – or as rich, because there’s always someone with more.

hackers.town: 2022-12-18 Sun 18:13

@WuMargaret Also true! I’ve had enough bad breaks and paid attention, so I broke that thought habit.

hackers.town: 2022-12-18 Sun 20:30

@Perigrin @WuMargaret that’s the one. Thank you!
