@genehack I lack AirPods, but I did my own experiment using a bone conduction headset. IFF I press the right side speaker in a bit, I hear it quite well.

Regular headset does nothing, though. Something in the middle is in the way. They may do exploratory surgery later if I’m so inclined. If conduction hearing aid works, I won’t be so inclined.

@gizmomathboy @genehack my variety doesn’t do well with amplification alone, according to the hearing test. Do something loud and I’ll barely hear it, but my ear will still hurt. But we’ll see what they say at the fitting / consultation.

And yes for amplification-related hearing assistance it would be interesting to see what Apple could do!

@masukomi Same. The Nikola SSG supports using a separate metadata file paired to the content file — though if I’m using Nikola, I’ll just take the next step and use rST where fields are part of the document structure.

Obsidian’s Live Edit looks like the start of a real nice approach, rendering YAML frontmatter as a properties table. We’ll see how they iron out the wrinkles!

Trilium is a real interesting implementation of notes as database, with open-ended extensibility via JS. But a) JS; and b) the notes themselves are HTML, so fancy scripting involves SQL + DOM.

Next release of #ObsidianMD looks all set to change up the frontmatter-free workflow I was just getting settled into this year, since YAML frontmatter will soon be respected as properties of the note within core.
