Okay, rebooting to Linux partition before bed.

hackers.town: 2020-06-17 Wed 09:12

It takes a couple moments for SQLite to load a 580MB db file.

I suppose I could use a proper database server.

But where’s the sport in that?

hackers.town: 2020-06-17 Wed 23:28

Script time: ~21m in Linux (and gets everything right), ~22m in Windows proper (but suffers from some file encoding confusion), 48m in WSL 2. But hey it gets everything right. I think.

Hm, somebody followed by some folks I follow.

We clearly have different priorities. But maybe?

[scrolls]

Couple good notes, but a lot of tediousness.

Ah, they boosted the yahoo store guy. Nah I don’t want to follow them. Not with judgment like that.

Got a good start #knitting her socks.

That yarn was tough to wind. 45% bamboo, 40% wool, 15% nylon. Maybe wool content contributed to tangling?

@nomad Trader Joe’s is in the same category as Whole Foods for me, in that I’ve never heard anyone say anything good about corporate.

Skimming over some mercurial notes and now I’m mad about git all over again.

hackers.town: 2020-06-14 Sun 10:23

Running exiftool over every file in my Dropbox folder and stuffing the results in a SQLite database.

Why, you ask?

@tithonium I’m still trying to sort it out. A 16:9 27" monitor presents certain challenges in vertical mode.

Though maybe less so in the Linux partition with a decent tiling window manager? 🤔

Rotated one of my monitors to make room for the work laptop and a) this may take some getting used to; b) “make sure your functions fit on one screen” is a dangerous guideline.

She: Is he saying “Calling Kyle?”

Me: Yeah. Well it’s Les Claypool. He just says some jibberish and plays some bass good and we’re all happy.

@bamfic My opinion’s even less practical (in current societal assumptions) than “abolish.” I’d reallocate funds dramatically & basically replace every cop holding a badge today with folks who can demonstrate comprehension of the Peelian Principles.

Honestly, it’s be easier just to abolish them.

@Ventronik I also have Equilinox and Islanders on my “chill time” list.

hackers.town: 2020-06-10 Wed 00:08

@Ventronik Equilinox is an evolution Spore-type god game, and Islanders is a city builder puzzle game.
