@thegibson I’ve done the small individual step of deleting my (already dormant) .social account because of this & E’s recent explicitly stated desire to make Mastodon more influential.
Aside from being a bad take on federated social networking, it’s a likely path to glossing over bad decisions for the greater goal of influence. Such as — you know — EUnomia.
Since he’s showing himself to be unreliable, defederating seems needed. Don’t know what he’ll do with data that hits .social. Also important to completely break from his code as upstream dependency. Fork? Platform shift? Dunno. What about defederating from other Masto instances that keep using his code?

Niche network randomness: MeWe successfully imported all of my G+ posts, but with many duplicate images.
So naturally my brain started pondering how to import (some of) those posts into my Web site instead. An interesting puzzle.
