I always forget how much more waiting is involved in a Windows or macOS update compared to Linux.

And a very happy fourth of fuck right the hell off to the folks lighting their fireworks off at 12:15am, from me, the dogs, the cats, and the people who were sleeping until oh just a few minutes ago.

Heard a transformer go boom somewhere nearby and I’m pretty sure a few minutes later I heard a second do that death-groan thing they do sometimes.

@maddiefuzz thanks for the clarification! Some days the Internet consists entirely of shade, so I wasn’t sure.

Solarized is my steady favorite, but there’s a lot of competition for 2nd: Fairyfloss, Tokyo, catppuccin, Witch Hazel. Fairyfloss in particular is great when I need cheering up.

Fiddling with my #nushell settings on Windows when I realized I have no idea where the config files are.

Installing NixOS on WSL2 via Nushell on Windows because apparently I have some kind of grudge against computers.

Wait what #TIL #Logseq block reference syntax ((...)) gives you a search and select menu.

I’ve been doing “copy block ref” / paste for a year.

Rather I haven’t because it’s tedious. I may start using a lot more block refs now!

@jaywilliams ah but then I’d have to go somewhere. I am checked and mated.

Used “safe mode” as an off-the-cuff description of the way my brain’s working real careful through a task I haven’t done for a while and

damn that’s good

“safe mode”

I’m gonna have to put that one in regular rotation.

@jens good lord do I feel that last sentence in particular.

So yay I got anxiety meds but mostly they make me sleepy so if I’m having an anxiety spike I gotta decide if this is worth taking a nap for.

Sometimes yes. So far usually no. But having the option does make it easier to breathe through it.

Someone else joined her 1:1 and in classic weird-brain-wiring fashion I’m still mad there’s at least two folks in her org (the half of the 1:1 for inviting + the 3rd wheel for accepting) with such egregious disregard for accurate terminology.

With all the prep / retro / status meetings involved, a two week sprint kinda feels like it has somewhere under a week of time for doing the work. Partly an ADHD “TODAY IS MEETING DAY” thing.

Not saying that’s good or bad, but I should take it into account for estimates.

hackers.town: 2022-06-28 Tue 09:44

I’m jotting down post-meeting notes.

Setting up the Linux partition with Pop OS — it’s good enough and compatible enough with stuff I need — but the important part is my “minimal workflow” setup has 26 items and yeah time to experiment w/Ansible or Nix or GNU Guix.

I mean.

Not today but sometime.

hackers.town: 2022-06-26 Sun 11:24

Could probably replace 23 of those tools with the perfect Emacs config but that is also not happening today.
