Prince owned his art in a way that few others have in my time. Sometimes annoyingly so, but I respect it.

My Prince intro (age 10): Mom’s roommate had this poster. She hated it & made him take it down. Controversy.

Prince is one of the more intimate rock gods. His songs describe familiar human strengths & vulnerabilities. Not operas, oddities, or aces.
