The SHA256 checksums took nearly all my program’s CPU time. No surprise there.
Got a thought before bed: this doesn’t need cryptographically secure checksums, just uniqueness markers.
Trying again with MD5 before work while I finish first coffee.

Saved myself about 30 seconds — out of 28 minutes — by using MD5 instead of SHA256. That’s what we call a “learning experience.” okay, time for work.

Don’t get me wrong. Spotify’s math is accurate. Most of these recommendations are in my library.
