update: I found the monkey and it told me if I’d read the Django docs I would have recognized a RelatedManager and worked my way back from there.

Took about a day to identify and change the one line needed to fix the test bug that my one line change exposed. Turns out it was lupus. I mean redis.

Really it wasn’t redis specifically. Just - you know - caching. Really good. So good you can forget it’s there. Which is the worst thing to do with a cache.
