Gitea because shiny
Been wanting to reduce my dependency on Github / Gitlab / etc for a while. I could’ve used a simpler and more mundane approach. But Gitea is just too tempting.

Had a mental flash of the AI coding tool being like pair programming with autocorrect and ducking bell I need to lie down.
Also waiting for Github to go “your code’s not GPL because it’s on our servers and if you’ll just have a look at this line of the EULA here” but no they go “gosh our bad here we fixed it” just like half a dozen other billion dollar companies did this week.
I’m just bummed about this whole thing. There will be DMCA-ish takedowns. Novice and plain old overworked devs will push dangerously bad code like always but now they’ll blame the algorithm.
AI won’t replace my career but it may make it more trouble than it’s worth.

Getting a little carried away with pytest tags and that’s okay.

Hey my ADHD friends a thing I’m learning is that sometimes the cleanup part of the work day takes a while so don’t try forward progress for the full eight hours or your day’ll be more like 12.
I’ve been in cleanup mode – where you make sure things are tidy enough for a test deploy – since 4pm. It’s after 6 now and I’m sure I have a full hour left.
The key has been knowing my brain refuses to let that cleanup phase slide. So I’m trying to curtail my “one more feature / fix off the list” tendency.
It’s not working yet but at least I’m aware.

Woo hoo! Spending all of yesterday buried up to my neck in labor-saving measures saved me some labor today.
