Spent a couple nights getting more of an intentionally sketchy look with the latest bedtime doodle.

Kaleidoscope symmetry drawing with pencil-style shading

@welshpixie thank you!

Good lord there’s a lot of self-indulgent borderline prosperity gospel nonsense in the PKM space.

Jesus don’t give a damn if you take good notes, Frank.

editor’s note: “Frank” is a fictionalized amalgamation of annoying characteristics from multiple unrelated personal knowledge management experts.

Importing the documentation? Easy peasy.

Connecting it?

uh

graph showing a central cluster of connected nodes encircled by many unconnected nodes

hackers.town: 2022-09-19 Mon 22:01

Reimported with two (2) parent path possibilities and

uh

progress?

The unconnected cluster of nodes is now a tightly connected mass that looks a lot like an eye

hackers.town: 2022-09-19 Mon 22:20

good enough for my purposes

the scary eye is now several small clusters connected to a hub node; to the right of the graph is the note for one of those nodes: terraform AWS provider documentation

It’s pretty, but if I want my own custom local devdocs.io — and I do — then medium-term I probably want to think about holding it in something more db-driven like Trilium or SiYuan.

hackers.town: 2022-09-19 Mon 22:59

Had to process internal links and tag the new notes as resources.

There are more connections in the new cluster, and it’s green.

going to bed before i get the urge to implement the other ideas

Why did I go to any trouble for a local copy of info available on a nice documentation site? Because many documentation sites are set up to impress, not to simplify finding and referencing information.

No judgment. Not much at least. I need the info, not the UX.
