Took one of them autism quotient self-tests and I got 34 out of a possible 50. I wonder if I get any bonus points for the number of times I went “this question needs more context before I can answer it properly.”

@masukomi Yep, complaining about the DSM with my therapist the other week and how neurodivergent disorders are described in external factors — how we annoy normal people.

@masukomi Oh and I got very grumbly about how many of those traits basically describe someone who has loads of trauma thanks to being ADHD or ASD in an allistic world.
My mom didn’t do a perfect job raising me, especially around ADHD and her own internalized shame. But a lot of the autistic stuff manifests more mildly in me because a) it runs strong in the men of my family, so loads of precedent; b) mom had a strong “play their games but fuck’em if they can’t handle you” ethos around those traits.
