Well heck. #NoMansSky is out on macOS now.

#NoMansSky on M1 Pro w/32GB RAM: good enough that I finally realized how much screen tearing I get playing via Proton in Linux. Also, laptop runs cooler than when playing Civ 6.

Graphic quality of Pulse Drive animations needs work. OTOH the first couple months I played on Linux there were no textures. This is way better than that.

Now to wait for the promised #Steam client update so that getting to my game sucks a little less on macOS.

@cinebox honestly not sure! New port vs old port issues. I’d say the M1 Max at least has the potential to run it better.

@cinebox My M1 Pro experience is mostly better than on Linux (which isn’t technically supported), almost not quite as good as Windows (though sound and colors are better)

EDIT: Win/Lin machine is i7-9700K 96GB RAM with Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti

@zkat Nice!

hackers.town: 2023-06-01 Thu 13:10

@cinebox Pretty much the same thoughts I had.

Seeing people complaining in the NMS Steam announcement about the lack of a port to Linux and uh i been playing on linux via proton for — a year? Year and a half? Something?

very confused

If there’s already a solid way to play why push a small company to port?
