@ThisWeekInThe90s @drwho I mean there were plenty of clear-eyed skeptics but the folks around Web 1.0 and associated hallucinogenics were all very Arrested Development about the whole thing.

I’ve always felt like data science was kind of a black box to me with lots of stuff I don’t understand. I’m learning that in fact a lot of the hand-waving is because there’s a lot of black box black magic for the common practitioner as well, hidden behind numpy and TensorFlow utility functions.
