I think I’m gonna have to stop using DDG. Too many times I do a search, check the results, click a link, nah, browser back, and — it’s a dramatically different results list.

Or I’ll scroll down the results list, and two or three screens down suddenly the results are now rental properties in my area or something else not even remotely related.

They might use Bing for results but Bing (so far) isn’t doing the same thing.

@gizmomathboy Ah thank you! I knew if I complained about DDG and mentioned a hated big corporate search engine someone would remind me about the niche one folks mention every once in a while.

@freakazoid @gizmomathboy I’m thinking Kagi be a good resource when I’m working again, but a lot of things are competing for my unemployment check.

Given my “search once refine 20 times” approach I’d need that unlimited tier.

@genehack Folks are saying nice things about Kagi, but short-term budget concerns got me putting Bing as the browser search default today.

@gizmomathboy strong encouragement (in my head at least) for folks to start putting bookmark.html files on their Web sites again.

It may not be as convenient as search engines used to be, but you know what you’re looking at is curated in some way.
