I don’t recall setting any timer, so I will take this as editorializing from my personal devices.

Me too, Apple Watch. Me too.

@erosdiscordia As someone sufficiently familiar with being broke, I understand the deep fulfillment of a minimalistic lifestyle. I have encouraged my rich friends to pursue this noble goal when they are so inclined.

In fact I’m so supportive I occasionally take those expensive trinkets, computers, and doo-dads off their hands.

For their own well-being and spiritual health of course.

@erosdiscordia Oh no worries. This was mostly 10-15 years ago, with recession-era tech folks giving up and moving to the mountains. I’d take their expensive hardware, clean it up , and find a nerd in need at the local homeless shelter I frequented.

@erosdiscordia @JessTheUnstill When I first got into tech and was all excited I could afford stuff. I bought all the tech books I could fit in my apartment.

Then a crash and a recession later, selling them all at the used book store paid rent and bought food. For a few months anyways.

Didn’t really have it in me to rebuild my library after that, though. Preferred the digital on a laptop I could stuff in my backpack if I got evicted again.

So that ended up being my angle on “minimalism.”

@erosdiscordia @JessTheUnstill my physical library these days is: cookbooks, craft books, art books, and for tech the ones with a highly visual and/or timeless element (Tufte being a prime example of both).

A lunch-and-learn that’s just a third party coming in and pitching their employer’s service.

Don’t want to begrudge them the obvious effort buuut I was really expecting “one of your coworkers shows off their latest mad science project.”

I’ve been spoiled, I know.

@Packbat I set Compose Key position to Right Alt in keyboard options, or via WinCompose when in Windows.
