Early on I spent a lot of time fussing about how to organize functions, methods, class names, constants, etc within a single file. “Does get_a go better near get_b or maybe set_a but what about …”
At some point I started lumping them together (functions go next to other functions, constants go next to other constants) and sorted the lump contents ASCIIbetically.
Haven’t looked back since, really.
I try to respect conventions in someone else’s code, but I’ll always drift towards ASCII order.
