All this stuff they’re showing is super-useful for enterprise orgs I guess.
I just find the utility / service model of infrastructure and development, renting out costumes for companies that want to cosplay as Google or Amazon, so depressing.

I mean
I know there’s a lot of organizations with network and technology infrastructure that can’t function on Web 1.0 closet-server web chainsaw “imagine a beowulf cluster of these” approaches. I understand that.
I’m just saying it sucks, and I don’t feel any urge to use resume tech for my personal stuff.

@ramsey never been focused enough to have skin in the game, but I’ve seen Perl and Ruby devs ask themselves this question. It’s rough and the only correct decisions will come from you.
I’m sure as long as you want to be active in the domain — even if only in a personal rather than professional capacity — you’ll continue to be relevant.
