@klardotsh Ooh thank you! I’ll review and apply this week!

Oh dang I’m gonna have to find a way to enjoy using React. It just shows up way too often in job listings.

Well, today is Kotlin part two and the next couple days are Kubernetes. React will have to wait until the weekend.

@klardotsh and yeah a link up would be much appreciated! I’m experiencing noteworthy overwhelm so I won’t be acting on anything today but yes please!

hackers.town: 2024-01-10 Wed 12:04

@jamie thank you so much, that makes it worse!

Big fan of the “Five Why’s” approach to feature enhancements and dependency additions where some executive wants to add something like a new button or React and you ask “Why” five times to get a clearer understanding of what need they’re trying to fill and then they fire you

@jamie Thanks! So far my brain refuses to engage with either close enough to have questions but if I reach a question that can be articulated and not immediately answered by a search engine, I will keep it in mind!

@Johannab Loved Audioslave at the time and then kinda forgot about it, since it wasn’t a primary project or something.

hackers.town: 2024-01-10 Wed 15:08

@Johannab (edit: also around initial lockdown time) I started getting into local grunge and pre-grunge — for the first time really as it was way too pervasive around here for me to enjoy at the time — with Mudhoney, The Gits, and Tad featuring in my playlists.

Aside from that, for emoting with loud guitar I’ve long enjoyed Ambassador (from Argentina) and Devils Hunt Me Down.

All right. Finished the walkthrough of Kotlin + Spring Boot. Time to stop the day’s Job Requirement Driven Learning.

@jacobydave might know a few yeah

hackers.town: 2024-01-10 Wed 15:33

@danlyke @jacobydave Definitely a “who wants to know?” situation.

hackers.town: 2024-01-10 Wed 15:42

@genehack @jacobydave indeed. And I’m — curious. There ain’t that many Perl shops floating around these days, and a significant plurality wave flags of the yellow and red chunk of the spectrum.

hackers.town: 2024-01-10 Wed 15:44

@genehack @jacobydaveIn not completely unrelated news, recruiter pinged me about a Perl / C/C++ / Java gig at Amazon. I got a strong hunch I know the tools and if so I am amused. Not so amused that I want to work in-office at AMZN but still.

Relevant to some side discussions about job search options.

But there’s a whole thing for using Kotlin with notebooks, so ki is strictly for folks addicted to terminal REPLs.

which

@ramsey @grmpyprogrammer I’ve encountered required education fields in online resume submissions before and it’s frustratingly difficult to wing it. One had an autocomplete with neither the community college I took Art Design I at nor did they have Wossamotta U
