Can tell the brain’s been extra neurospicy lately because I’ve gotten the day jumbled multiple times this week. Today alone it’s been Friday, Thursday, Tuesday, Friday, and Thursday.

The mental osmosis of the last ten years or so has finally paid off, and I know enough TypeScript to understand and enjoy what I’m writing.

Email from insurance provider with subject line “What to know about BMI” and my internal voice immediately starts going off “Bet it’s not gonna be that it’s a demographic statistic that was never meant to be applied to individuals, only to judge entire populations based on racist assumptions”

and no it wasn’t

But it was about how there are other better ways to gauge your health, so there’s that.

So @IamMrsGeek finally figured out how to get Barry to hold still for skritches.

at least i enjoyed typescript until i hit a problem that was best solved with a regular expression

typescript apparently has explosive incontinence when faced with a named capture

hackers.town: 2024-01-18 Thu 18:43

I mean I could be wrong, but I keep ending up on Github issues about regular expression named captures in TypeScript that span multiple years of discussion before tapering off into an exhausted sigh

hackers.town: 2024-01-18 Thu 18:59

Fixed it by taking out the named capture and ugh no wonder folks hate regexen if this is what they think of when someone mentions the topic.

Bit of an adventure learning less exciting TypeScript stuff, but now I’ve got links, backlinks, and not-yet-links all behaving as expected.

remark-obsidian uses slugify’s default of swallowing path separators, so if your Obsidian vault has a very clever organization scheme that you worked very hard on, you’re gonna have to pre-process wiki links.

Oh hey #VintageStory 1.19 is in stable now. Cool.

Vintage Story is a bit like Minecraft for folks who enjoy voxels and building, but they also really enjoy detailed crafting and finding new ways to die. I only ever play in exploration mode, which is basically spicy creative.
