@pdcawley yes, for sure. I was doing /x style in JavaScript via XRegexp, which meant nicely formatted template strings, but also meant ALL THE BACKSLASHES.

@pdcawley One of the core enduring lessons from Perl for me is that regular expressions are their own language. Treating them as strings — even magic strings, like r in Python — adds a whole heck of a lot of friction.

@blogdiva Nice! I use a shell alias to feed KEXP into mplayer. Great for convenience, awful for discovery.
On the Windows side MusicBee has good enough search to find WWOZ on the first try. But results by genre are huge + 97% awful + I need to search by mood more often than genre.

@gulovsen @blogdiva I can get a helping of trivia about any artist on Spotify, but they (and related services) can never tell me why I should care. That’s why I prefer radio.
Well that and radio’s not trying to starve out musicians.

I hear Douglas Adams was constantly revamping and rewriting stories he’d already written, to the point where the Hitchhiker’s movie had lots of unfamiliar bits that were just from his notes of intended changes.
How strange and unrelatable, I think to myself as I refactor a nineteen year old blog post.
