Got some minor productivity done in Linux, thought I’d reboot and try again on the Windows Dev Home thing. Better. Nothing to do with default browser, just Windows being Windows.

Incidentally, WingetUI is pretty sweet. Wonder if I can get its widgets working, or at least showing better error messages.

apparently taking a screenshot of a window takes a lot of CPU

@rgegriff maybe add bash.org?

Her Zoom was playing everything full blast. She tried fixing it.

Next meeting she got no sound.

A perfect fix, I’d say. Fix the video next please.

When Wondermark hits it hits hard and right in the tender bits.

Making the best progress I’ve managed so far on Learn Go With Tests because I gave myself to take it at whatever pace I need to.

@blogdiva hadn’t noticed and now I can only picture the Sumerians as the original neckbeard, doffing their fertile crescent fedora with a “m’lady”

hackers.town: 2024-02-20 Tue 13:14

@blogdiva little-known fact-like idea that the Code of Hammurabi started out as a reply thread on a tweet by a female ruler

(mixing my Babylonians and my Sumerians but all in the name of a terrible joke)

My #FediCard:

Hi I’m Brian I like text and hate grammar

@blogdiva I dual boot because I can’t sit still, but I think you’ve got the smarter idea. As for gaming, Steam’s 80% or more of the way there for me on Linux.

She fixed the plumbing and we didn’t even have to use explosives.

@IamMrsGeek is some kind of genius.

@tk @IamMrsGeek we are saving them for company

Logging into Twitter for the joy of mocking folks replying to tweets from the previous decade like they’re current events.

hackers.town: 2024-02-20 Tue 16:59

@Canageek mine makes a stupid kind of sense. January 31, angry twits doing keyword search for “Taylor Swift” and presumably hate-quoting.

hackers.town: 2024-02-20 Tue 17:08

@Canageek obviously a Hasbro troll farm

Finally playing with some Crystal code for the first time in a few years. It’s fun.

@johannab Oh absolutely. I was just cheeky because for a minute there I was effectively flooded by the collectable card game meme.

We’re watching Dune. My first reaction: “She has a very big hat.”

to myself: “she must be de schmott gal”

Trying to help @IamMrsGeek with writing ideas by using my rusty TTRPG GM skills. Course, I gotta be careful that I’m providing interesting plot points and not directions to an insane tabletop session.

This Dune feels more like the books than Lynch’s Dune, including frail-looking emo boy Paul. That’s closer to how I pictured him from the descriptions before the 1984 movie came out.

They’re changing some bits but the book came out over half a century ago. Some bits needed to be touched up.

@VE2UWY I was paying attention through Heretics of Dune, but was a little tired of it all by Chapterhouse and didn’t pay as close attention.
