Overhauled space stations, ship customization, and salvaging wrecks. Heck yeah (also heckin’ finally)

No Man’s Sky Orbital Update Trailer - YouTube

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 08:32

Guess this answers the question of whether Hello Games will keep doing significant work on No Man’s Sky now that they’ve got Light No Fire going.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 08:41

@christian I know! HAve to remind myself that there are other things I need to do today before I can bury myself in the update.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 08:43

@tek misread that, tried again, and agreed on your preferred social media algorithm.

But FAFO would be an intriguing option.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 08:54

@tek For reasons unclear to me, my brain keeps presenting IRC as an implementation of the FAFO social networking algorithm.

Sometimes you get your partner a sadness blizzard, no questions asked.

well except maybe flavor and size.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 14:32

@bitprophet my next (iPhone) will be a mere Pro and I’m upset that it now registers as a small phone to my brain.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 15:23

@LRRRonEarth @blogdiva I thought he was dead for decades.

Ohh you mean on the outside right right

well

good for her!

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 15:32

@Patricia @jenniferplusplus oh this must be why they never let me talk to clients.

Partly why, at least.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 15:33

@genehack @anildash I’d be teaching them to shout “guillotines are eco-friendly” out the window or something so put that as another point for the “good thing he didn’t have kids” column

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 15:59

Using PDM to manage python project dependencies because I got it to work last year and I’m too tired to try something else.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 16:09

@WuMargaret @jenniferplusplus @Patricia you’ve spent too much time too close to the fire. Sorry about that.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 16:40

@eclectech @babe domo-kun!

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 16:44

When you’re using Pandas to double check your work

Your static site generation workflow might be a little too much.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 16:45

but at least I’m consistent

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 16:50

we had a thunder

since our local infrastructure is assembled with paper mache

might want to commit and push

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 17:05

@eclectech torto-kun?

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 17:32

I do most of my note captures in Logseq, currently publish from Obsidian, but I notice when I need to grab a note on my phone it’s usually SiYuan.

Reading the comments on a Steam game update post always does a fine job of killing any nostalgia I had for peak forum days.

I mean yeah. Social media broadly sucks. But “never read the comments” didn’t just come out of thin air.

Me, pep talk for the youngest who is moving to Arizona:

“They’ve got that reactionary conservative streak to look out for but OTOH they don’t have Daylight Savings Time so — uh — woo!”

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 19:53

Thought of a question to ask the interviewer for automation and process type jobs: how do the org and processes you’re in charge of look next week if you get hit by a bus tomorrow?

maybe work on that to make it sound less like a threat but yeah it is a good question

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 19:58

@nomad the youngest is maybe one of those things.

Yes I am concerned.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 20:02

@gizmomathboy It’s really good bamboo.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 20:30

@thegibson that’s

you know what that’s fine

It’s hard enough work as it is.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 20:56

@thegibson Is that good?

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 21:41

Tonight I share the anxiety the youngest and her partner feel as they see their computers delivered ahead of them because I know you’ll feel the tightening of the chest to know there are computers and monitors in there.

“Share the love,” as @IamMrsGeek says.

@mekkaokereke One running joke in the 80s was that Coeur d’Alene was French for skinhead. Course, I was 13 and thought it was clever as heck, before learning that it’s basically everywhere.

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 22:14

@genehack See but I want to frame the question in such a way that doesn’t make it sound like a conscience question. Some hardship or tragedy seems easier to bypass “I’d make sure everything was working before I fucked off to my private island.”

hackers.town: 2024-03-27 Wed 22:24

@nomad @IamMrsGeek we are told it powers on, though not without issue. Past that requires more technical people.
