MTV special on young adults still living with their parents, coming of age in a recession, living in the boomer shadow, getting too much screen time.
Highlights include a persistent watermark, copyrighted music snippets that have not yet been muted by copyright strikes, and a neoliberal funk rock band.

At some point – I’ve noticed since 14.4, may’ve been earlier – my MBP has gotten much better about recognizing the presence of a DisplayPort connection on wake.
Haven’t had to disconnect and reconnect that monitor the last couple days.

A security issue only in the latest releases of xz, so most folks on stable distro releases can rest easy?

Reading a data analysis book. There’s an exercise to make recommendations. Awkwardly realizing that one of my recommendations is basically industrial espionage.
Might tweak that one a bit.

xz just makes me sad. Tech and FOSS culture in its current form will always produce more burnout, more vulnerable people, and more software vulnerabilities that exist because “people are dicks” instead of because “software is hard.”
Both are true, but it’s the first one that’s gonna kick our ass.
No I don’t know how to fix this. It’s human nature, and the people who take advantage of it. None of those go away. Just do your bit to look out for each other. Even when you’re dealing with a P0 at work, have some empathy. That’s the best we can do.
