She, in a meeting: “We have to talk to IT”
Me, mumbling to the dog: if they’d hired me that would just mean turn a little to the right but hey i’m sure they know what they’re doing

@amydentata Ollama can run LLMs locally, reducing overall energy consumption to your on-demand usage rather than a whole cloud farm, and can be used to generate really convincing gibberish.
As seen in the broader world of LLMs of course.

@Long_live_rock_n_roll @Mjack just had this one in my head as a matter of fact

@IamMrsGeek can confirm.

I am disappointed to report that I have implemented the easier solution that gets me measurably closer to my project target rather than the ill-defined, brittle tangent of a solution I had my heart set on.

@Greg please refrain from clapping until the mourning period is over.
Alas, poor genius idiot idea, we never got to finish writing you.

@wordshaper I’m not opposed to LLMs or generative AI in the abstract. I just hated the extractive approach to training data, ecological and economic wastefulness of high profile implementations, hype-driven acquisition of every tangentially related concept as part of the “AI” umbrella, —
lemme start over

sorry ADHD brain won’t shut up until I post this
“As you all know, first prize is a nice weighted blanked. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a nap. Third prize is a hug. Get the picture?”

@lilithsaintcrow @mwl ah to have only one idea that I can care for and nurture instead of this field of dying tamagotchis before me, batteries slowly fading as they broadcast their neglect

@mwl @lilithsaintcrow
“But they’ll never actually die!”
Oh I know. I keep trying.

gonna tell my grandkids that “10x” described the effect on infrastructure and security attack surface area

I had a problem, so I used regular expressions.
and it worked out pretty nice actually because i am comfortable with regular expressions and used them in Perl which provides more affordances for regex-based solutions
hackers.town: 2024-04-03 Wed 16:58
@oldcoder Oh I don’t know if I’d go that far.

Model-driven image upscaling has turned out to be a practical application of the generative “AI” toolkit.
And it only sometimes puts boobs on the drawings.
(original 3k x 3k pixel on the right; upscaled 9.6k x 9.6k on the left)

Okay I made my picture big so you can get it on everything from an Apple Watch band to a wall mural(?!) or just a nice travel mug. Society6 has a dizzying array of home and office decor options. Seemed like a good spot for this drawing.
Not sure what hashtags to put on this. #SupportArtistsBuyArt something? All I know is I’d like to contribute to rent.
