Long time ago on a trip to Canada talking with some Canadians who were trying to be nice (of course) about our health care system and my partner rebutted “it’s really sweet of you to call it a system.”

I think this was a week after my partner, having recently been diagnosed with latent TB, caught her primary care physician looking up her condition on wikipedia.

“I already did that. Anything you need to know?”

There was that time when a manager told me I needed to do more “system thinking” so my brain zoomed too far out and I started describing our systems in terms of what they did (look pretty at high cost mostly), who benefited (not us, not clients, not founders, mostly VC setting up portfolio for next target), and how we’d need to reevaluate surface assertions and test suites if we really wanted to optimize the core functionality of that system, etc.

“Not like that.”

There will be a trip in the near future, so I’m making sure all my recent hyperfocus targets are set up and ready to go on the laptop.

Last night at the Jo Koy show and he did this really cool thing where the audience sang along in unison to several romantic R&B songs of 20-30 years ago.

I didn’t know a single one because all I played in that time frame was flaming queer twee or caustic garage rock, but it was delightful to witness. Like church hymns from another denomination.

As one of the special treats of domestic bliss, @IamMrsGeek gets to see my “WTF code” face with some frequency.

It looks like I smelled an angry fart.

She gets to see that face a lot.

Isn’t she lucky.

An earlier Logseq-based incarnation of my public brain supported a tumblelog-type mechanism where I’d mark a block as public in the daily journal, and that block would get published on the site.

Making sure to implement that with this experiment too.
