At the local loud blingy place, drinking coffee and muttering about Las Vegas while @IamMrsGeek plays her games.

@tk @IamMrsGeek couldn’t find it. Maybe next time.

Thinking of registering Bouncy Dog as an emotional support animal because he needs a lot of emotional support.

TIL NativePHP is a thing and this fills me with an almost malicious glee. That would be fun to dig into.
hackers.town: 2024-05-05 Sun 16:23
(PHP’s been making constant and steady progress as a workhorse language during all the time everyone else has been making fun of it, often while the hecklers’ preferred tools kinda fall behind)

@c0debabe right? RIGHT?! I mean if you’re gonna make a Web app on the desktop WHY NOT COMMIT TO THE BIT
hackers.town: 2024-05-05 Sun 16:46
@chris I haven’t done serious PHP code in a very long time — though I’d never say no to paying work — but I’ve remained an enthusiastic observer and supporter.
hackers.town: 2024-05-05 Sun 17:05
@notroot @chris My serious PHP time was when v3 was in beta. Believe me when I say it doesn’t have all the same flaws it’s always had.
But yeah true on FB and the team(s) that put in the work!

Now pulling linked assets (and only linked assets) from Obsidian vault to org-roam folder. Displays nicely in org-roam-ui preview, but not in Emacs.
Ohh, I probably don’t have Imagemagick set up and connected. Well, I’ll probably catch that on the next brain cycle.

Hm. Probably want to do some post-processing for Obsidian callouts and code samples that are actually example console interactions.

Even if my attention wanders off, somebody else may find use in the code I have so far for converting #ObsidianMD vaults to #OrgRoam. So here’s a repo:

@ratfactor And I often do.

Love when folks I like get on their own or at least a smaller instance.
Because most of the biggest servers are inaccessible from the safety-minded smaller servers.
hackers.town: 2024-05-05 Sun 18:46
@bruce It’s absolutely true for all servers. With strict moderation those big high-traffic poorly-moderated servers get defederated as well.
And thanks to a few update bugs a while back from mastodon.social specifically, many mutuals from that server show up here as suspended. I can’t ever see what they post or if they reply to me. It’s a case-by-case fix, since there are legit suspensions in that database as well.

hackers.town: 2024-05-05 Sun 21:54
@almibe Oh heck, of course! I even knew that
uh 30-40 years ago?
Well I guess I won’t feel bad for forgetting.

Each of the worlds I spend more than say 15 minutes in has some kind of theme, for RP purposes I guess.
Theme for this world so far is “beach bum.”
