I like the idea of AFFiNE. Some interesting concepts with multiple workspace views as wiki or whiteboard. Still a lot of rough edges with both editing and sync, but if they focus on those it’s got potential. I just hope they don’t get sidetracked from core functionality by —

“INTRODUCING AFFINE AI!”

— right. That.

Not exactly high priority, but during a pause in packing I made sure the stickers I just found were on the laptop.

@ratfactor I believe that laptop cover was another awesome @IamMrsGeek find.

@christian My site’s current incarnation is a hybrid of blog and topic notes. Keeping the blog part (and thinking about resurrecting a tumblelog component) because the “when” of a lot of my thoughts is as important as the “what.” Some don’t age well, and some don’t need to age well, but they still provide the timestamp for an interesting day or year.

The topic notes are extracted from recurring topics in the blog, combined with new topics I’ve deemed good enough — or personally important enough — to see the light of day.

All fed from a PKM — currently Obsidian, though I’ve got some code working for a Logseq export.

My first steps with Create. It spins. Very very slowly, but it spins.

#Minecraft

I won’t miss a lot of things about living here, but Neighbor Child Who Only Communicates Through High-Pitched Screams, I’ll won’t miss you most of all of them.

@tek that’s what we call a “false dawn.”

hackers.town: 2024-05-20 Mon 19:00

@GeoffWozniak yep that looks like a no.

hackers.town: 2024-05-20 Mon 19:03

@GeoffWozniak I like it, but I’ll readily admit that a) outline-style notes; and b) the way they’ve implemented stuff – it’s not for everyone. It’s not always for me, even with all my favorite plugins.

hackers.town: 2024-05-20 Mon 20:04

@GeoffWozniak Oh that’d do it too.

@IamMrsGeek If she asks for video of the thing in use,: leash me up to it, sitting on the table, with you clipping my nails.

That should stop the texts.

i hope

Periodic update: adjusted for inflation, LeVon and Barry got $493.78 worth of pudding in 2024 numbers.

Dryer’s busted so I put my clothes out on the line to dry this morning.

Course, this is western Washington. The clothes aren’t dry so much as noticeably less wet. Still — better than the dryer would’ve done.

Better bring them in before it rains.

@ceejbot Lower fascist count remains a strong selling point of Rust for me in contrast to Scala.

I would hate on the JVM – that’s my default view anyways – but it’s running Minecraft with its many mods and doing a pretty good job of it so I’m forced into mixed feelings.

hackers.town: 2024-05-20 Mon 21:50

@thegibson I keep trying but they all tell me they’re moving forward with other candidates instead.

Disappointing.

hackers.town: 2024-05-20 Mon 21:56

@ceejbot I have been! Obviously I wonder what a better underlying framework could provide, a question that’s already been asked and partially answered with Minetest and Vintage Story.

@structuregeek we’re about to move to the desert, or I’d be thinking about it.
