Started in a new All the Mods 9 - No Frills world. Near constant intrusion by Wandering Traders and their llamas.
Opting for an aggressively anti-Wandering-Trader stance. After an alternate solution¹ failed to resolve the issue, busted out the No Soliciting Banner and Restraining Order from Utilitarian.
¹: anybody need to borrow some leads or leather? I got loads.

Saw something about Kenshi and the best way to cut an onion. Took me multiple tries before I correctly parsed that as Kenji. Kenji López-Alt the cookbook author, not Kenshi the hardcore squad survival sandbox RPG.

Annoyed enough about Maven continuing the OpenAI ethos of “fuck it, scrape everything” that I posted about it on LinkedIn. Might it risk my job search? After the last year and a half? Not measurably. Besides, it’s good that potential employers know what they’re dealing with.

I’ll readily admit I remain ambivalent about generative AI. Seems useful in some contexts, a hindrance or hazard in others.
I am not the least bit ambivalent about OpenAI and Sam Altman. As this is a public forum, let’s just go with “not a fan.” Especially given the latest evidence of FUBAR status includes the Altman-backed OpenAI alumn-driven Maven ActivityPub project scraping DMs from hackers.town, the Fediverse instance I frequent.

@lmorchard It seems GIF vaults age their contents out after ten years. I’ve noticed a rapid fall-off for material past that, even stuff I used to find readily.

@jamie yep. I’m generally straightforward about my neurodivergence, but only asked for some kind of accommodation twice — basically just “have a little patience please because I can’t get anywhere in a straight line.”
One job every issue the focus was on how my ADHD might be interfering, and nothing but occasional lipservice acknowledging the org’s massively lopsided dysfunctional management structure.
The other I was one fish in an entire neurospicy pond that was my team, and that was awesome. Except for the employer imploding and closing shop. That part sucked.

@aburka Interestingly specific! fn+Enter does play/pause, but usually of whatever’s got something to play, and usually just the thing you have open.
Don’t know if you found already, but the layout card from the support page might help identify default combos.

@aburka do you have any other keyboards with media keys you could try, see if the same thing happens?
Also, you may be able to examine, change, and worse case disable key combo layers with Chrysalis.

@aburka And just so you know, Chrysalis is as easy as “go to that URL with your keyboard plugged in, look at your key bindings, and maybe change some.”
I stalled for years on that and it turned out to be less than a minute for the change I wanted.

I think I hurt my head with the demo query almost as much as I did getting the asset logic into the database. Got some serious refactoring ahead of me.
This is all pages in the graph tagged “python” with blocks containing links to local asset files — AKA all my imported blog posts that are about Python and have screenshots screenshots.
