Oops I got some news on me and learned about the Supreme Court ruling on Trump’s various immunities.

Well, I hope the next superpower does a better job of things.

If your newsletter unsubscribe involves more than two clicks (I’ll allow a “confirm” button), I’m reporting it as spam.

Subscriber support link in email → FAQ → find link to question → Remember URL for newsletter source → log in → visit profile → (dunno I closed the tab and reported spam)

uh oh i made a logseq plugin

I like the flexible rendering you get using heading:: true so much that I’ve been willing to type [SHIFT]-[ENTER]heading:: true for every section header over the last what three years?

Enough times that it finally registered as a time savings to spend this morning learning enough about Logseq plugins to write one. Now I’ve got a keybinding and a global command to type it for me.

Got some other things going on today, but maybe this evening I’ll clean it up enough to put in the marketplace.

Logseq zoomed in on a section outline with headings sized according to how deeply nested they are; a line labeled “sub-subsection” has text from typing “/head” and a context menu that shows the single option “Toggle Heading”

Logseq command pallete searching for “heading”, showing single “Toggle Heading” command with keybinding “Control 1”

@sleepyfox Nah they’d get a slightly different me for “automation engineer” than they would for “full stack dev” for example

Hrgh I went full power for that job screen, which is at least an order of magnitude more than my normal conversation energy. My brain is pooped.

Probably came off as slightly manic. Hope they find it charming.

@munin It’s been extremely frustrating as I dig deeper and find genuine utility in these technologies, and feel a frustration at the marketing and corporate zeitgeist that I haven’t felt since eavesdropping on the marketing team at my first tech job, pitching features of our product that didn’t exist, weren’t possible, and weren’t legal.

hackers.town: 2024-07-01 Mon 13:48

@rekiwi Appreciated! This was sort of manual triggering of enthusiasm, so the energy cost is that much higher.

(all the things I said were true, but I don’t feel that strongly about pretty much any of them)

hackers.town: 2024-07-01 Mon 13:50

@munin yep and that org got caught up in the first dip of dot-com, as bigger money got in the same market and the claims got closer scrutiny.

hackers.town: 2024-07-01 Mon 13:53

@munin A universal feeling

well, in my very small self-selected universe

hackers.town: 2024-07-01 Mon 14:05

@bmac @rekiwi I’m usually better at forcing a stop, but it’s been a few months since my last screen. I’m a bit out of practice.

hackers.town: 2024-07-01 Mon 14:25

@bitprophet Oh that one’s familiar. I do my best, but — yeah.

If I want to see depressed microblogging I can just log into bsky and scroll for a second.

I’m not saying you can’t do that here. I’m just saying Bluesky works real hard to recreate that collective anguish part of the Twitter experience so maybe think about it as an option.

Realizing how frequent rage-quit must be in #Factorio for “Restart” to be right there on the main game menu.

hackers.town: 2024-07-01 Mon 20:07

@francois Agreed! So many games where the playfield is set up procedurally, it’d be lovely to easily say “start over with the same seed.”

I do not use my task tool for time tracking.

Marked the interview task as active. Had the interview. Cooled my brain off. Wrote some code. Played some Factorio. Started getting thoughts down for tomorrow. Noticed the interview task was still active, marked it done.

8h33m for a 30m interview.
