But yeah WSL got easier to work with when I started thinking of it as chunky Docker instead of busted VM.

@raganwald the first time I read one of his essays in 2003 or so. I was very excited and read all his other essays in classic hyperfocus fashion. But then it occurred to me that he wasn’t describing any painters in my disproportionately artistic family. This made me suspect his descriptions of hackers.

But at least we have the decency to express shame. I mostly avoid mentioning him by name out of Twitter habit, trying to avoid Discourse with the sort of dudes who are now putting glue on pizza.

@raganwald rereading in case I forgot anything, but yeah. I appreciate the sentiment but it goes hard in the opposite direction to equivalent ridiculousness.
Graham’s essay initially appealed to because most of my better dev insight came from what my mom taught me about visual art: choosing levels of abstraction, art as communication, iterative process, some things being easier to say with one medium than another, stuff like that. I wouldn’t stretch the analogies to the breaking point, but it was helpful.
Neither author spent much time on that. It was either the romance of art or the reduction to purely technical aspects (of a specific style in a specific medium at that).

My Go-Kuzu binding isn’t useful yet. Still a little embarrassing. But at least it’s moved up from tragicomedy as I get the hang of c-for-go.

Having had limited, stumbling success binding a C library to Go, naturally the #ADHD is kicking in and telling me to bind a whole bunch of other libraries to Go and surely I’ll figure out the details along the way.
