@bitcrush_io the trifecta of Milo Bloom, Michael Buckley, and Opus did a lot for my self-awareness and acceptance of said self.

@minego so many times I’ve missed messages from folks I care about because I get flooded by spam.

@CyberneticForests when I first thought about AI-generated music I saw two interesting paths for me personally: lo-fi sleepytime stuff for winding down, and experimental weirdness reminiscent of The Residents.

Sometimes when folks wonder why #ADHD is all of a sudden a thing in the last couple decades I think about my Silent Gen diesel sub navy truck driver leatherworking biker grandpa who dabbled professionally in cheesecake photography, married seven times, climbed Mount Fuji three times, was a veritable encyclopedia of inappropriate humor, and recognized a surprising number of Alan Watts excerpts even after he’d self-medicated himself down to a husk

and i kinda wish people knew about adhd earlier

@minego the level of frustration when someone thinks gender dysphoria is spanking new and transitioning was invented in 2009.

One of my best programming mentors, Amanda (the name she chose was a pun). Back in the early 90s. Had been retired for a decade or more(?) and began her transition journey some time between then and my meeting her.

She couldn’t talk about code without major trauma-related issues, but she prepped me for a lot of corporate lifestyle and learning habits.

@bamfic Yep, probably not a completely coincidental connection.

It’s only 105F. We better walk the pups before it really warms up.

Our first heat wave brownout. So exciting!

Only a split second, long enough to reset internet and my desktop.

The air is slightly the wrong color. There’s a severe thunderstorm warning. I think we are getting interesting weather.

hackers.town: 2024-07-09 Tue 18:56

But hey there’s a rainbow with the big thunder and hail clouds so it’s cool. Cool cool cool.

Thin rainbow visible against ominous clouds

@thegibson oh Tucson makes it interesting all right. Sever thunderstorm warning now w/60MPH gusts and “penny-sized hail”

hackers.town: 2024-07-09 Tue 18:57

@thegibson It’s like Idaho with cacti.

hackers.town: 2024-07-09 Tue 18:58

@thegibson I do enjoy the variety I get in this particular desert.

Except muggy. I hates the muggy.

hackers.town: 2024-07-09 Tue 18:58

@thegibson prickly potato

Got four classes and 16 methods that all kinda blur together, so maybe time for a little refactoring.

Got carried away with Go being super-explicit about everything.

Treated as a reverse factory simulator, #TerraNil didn’t grab me.

But as a funky city sim / puzzle game hybrid, like Urbek, Islanders, or maybe Dorfromantik? I blew right past my bedtime reminder.

(it’s little or no automation or management, and way more optimized placement)
