The Moon & Antarctica by Modest Mouse

@maddiefuzz Oh heck been a while! Is that the one with the song that has “you’re not invisible inside your car”?
I think about that line a lot.

@maddiefuzz The albums kind of blur together for me. I was mixing that track up with “A Life of Arctic Sounds” which is also not on This is a Long Drive…
Every one of their albums has at least one album that makes me sniffly and emotional. Off The Moon and Antarctica it’s “Lives”.

@maddiefuzz Oh god “Bukowski” yeah but off that one “Float On”
my partner and I were in “move now or get evicted in a month” so we got a U-Haul, too tired to make the drive to her folks, slept on top of the covers in a motel with visible roaches, waking up every 20 minutes and “Float On” was in heavy rotation on VH-1 thank goodness because I really really needed it

@maddiefuzz Anyways strong emotional ties for most of their tracks.

@hacks4pancakes can add supportive anecdata for that hypothesis, since I’m comfortably cis, multiple varieties of neurospicy, and I don’t get why folks can’t just let people be who they are instead of a fictional cookie cutter template.

@maddiefuzz The rollercoaster in an OSHA-banned amusement park that is life continued its rattly ride for a good long time, but it’s better now if for no other reason that I’ve learned the bumps, divots, and missing rivets.

@hacks4pancakes exactly. I’ve always known I use my own metrics to evaluate people, and gender was pretty much the least of these.
I was way bigger on “do their actions help or harm the people around them?”

@hacks4pancakes (and somewhere in the top five is “are they comfortable with who they are, or at least comfortable with their discomfort?” And them making the conscious choice to express their gender instead of mirroring expectations contributes a whole lot to this)

@tedder Thanks! Clearly from the subject this is a pretty fresh change.

Almost listed “abandoning Minecraft builds” as a hobby which although true is probably not the first impression I want to be making at work.

Absolutely not. The last thing I want to give my internal critic is validation.

Currently torn between “I should clean my keyboard more often than every 3-5 years” and “I should seal my keyboard off and dump it in a nuclear waste site every year.”
“The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb these keys physically. This keyboard is best shunned and left untouched.”
