Continuously distressed by how many development practices with brand names and pretty logos are just Common Sense™.
Yesterday’s example: GitOps. It’s largely keeping your Infrastructure as Code in a Git repo, requiring an approved pull request before deploying, and not letting people bypass that by fiddling with production.

What I came across yesterday mostly summarized gitops as what I described, then went on to explain how tools like Flux and ArgoCD streamlined that process. They described those tools as supplemental to the process, not core.

plenty of times I’ve asked some kind of trivia question, and the important part wasn’t whether they knew it or not. It’s what they did with the information once they had it. One of the best Ruby devs my team ever added had no idea about the arguments to obj.methods but started describing scenarios where that would’ve been useful info to have.

I keep side-eyeing my Emacs config and pondering how I might implement my Logseq workflow in it.
Not just backlinks. org-roam and denote cover that pretty well. Thinking other useful stuff like mentions and bookmark link titles, and cosmetic stuff like inline / banner images.
(easily half my Logseq workflow depends on plugins)
