@masukomi they’re shutting down because they couldn’t figure out how to generate sufficient revenue for their expenses, some people are sad because it is a nice site with a pleasant interface, some folks are making fediverse their primary instead of cohost, and I have no idea if new people are coming here from there but the welcomes are going out just in case.

Crescent wrench, Kleenex, xerox, one day there will be no more Google and some chunk of folks will still use “Google” as a verb for “search.”

So I had a stray thought. Can I export to Notion from my heavy rotation note tools, or better yet have a two way bridge?

Took all of five seconds to establish that I was not the first person to have this particular stray thought. Spent another minute glancing around, and here’s what I found.

Bridge:

Export:

from Obsidian: jxpeng98/obsidian-to-NotionNext

from Logseq: b-yp/logseq-notion-sync

from SiYuan: terwer/siyuan-plugin-publisher

@lmorchard my immediate thought was mobile phones: brick -> bar -> trinket -> slab -> big slab

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 11:43

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 11:48

@lmorchard like

I’m fine with the observable characteristics of my genitalia. I don’t need a big truck.

What I want is to be able to parallel park.

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 12:17

@nomad @lmorchard dunno, I haven’t seen any Tesla trucks.

Course we are just wrapping up with monsoon season.

They’re probably all stuck in the driveway.

@akamran Wise choice, I’m reasonably sure.

We can’t afford a new TV, so I won’t be watching.

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 17:32

Another case where brain is properly engaged at unpredictable hours, and I’m just rolling with it for a few minutes.

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 17:37

@akamran Oh I definitely cannot afford a new monitor.

This sucker cost more than the TV.

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 17:41

@kusuriya @thegibson Oh I’m sure the podcast will be better than that.

Oh hang on.

Right I see.

Yeah valid.

Placed some self-adhesive acoustic wall tiles around downstairs, and have been pleased to notice the difference in house reverb.

Put a couple on the wall behind my desk, and very excited to order more.

Also because I rushed past the part where I use a level.

My feed is way more engaged with the presidential debate than they were with the Apple event.

which is good

but also a reminder to tune my keyword mutes, because I’m already pretty sure about the shape of everything that’s gonna be said tonight.

@maddiefuzz I’m reading Python code for generating documentation from JSON Schema files, and thinking about starting a new Satisfactory game since it’s officially 1.0 now.

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 18:49

@maddiefuzz I still haven’t gotten deep in, but each time I’ve enjoyed it very much while in a “first person Factorio” mood.

hackers.town: 2024-09-10 Tue 18:52

@maddiefuzz but I’ve been having way more fun in Planet Crafter, which is somewhat similar but definitely less cognitively demanding.

Watching Kaos and it’s definitely keeping my attention. Also because of the faces just popping up out of nowhere like oh hey that’s Suzy Eddie Izzard and that’s way more than a cameo
