@WuMargaret @grmpyprogrammer we’ve got additional family living with us, and they’re usually making their noise from their room upstairs while gaming.
I could maybe get an “On The Air” light to place over their computers which I could flash on and off as needed.

A lot of lazy dudes out there try to plant their flag on neurodivergence to excuse racism, sexism, narcissism. Aspy back when, now leaning into autism.
“I behave like this because autism. Free ticket.”
You may or may not be neurodivergent, Sam. But your primary disorder is that you’re an asshole.

I screw up all the time. Along multiple vectors. Hyperdimensional blunders. Sometimes from neurospicy hilarity. Sometimes from maladaptive coping mechanisms. Sometimes I’m just not very bright.
But I usually catch and fix it myself. When somebody else catches it, I fight the impulse to double down. I listen. I act on their feedback to the best of my ability. I try not to do it again.
And I never treat my diagnosis as a free pass. I may be #ADHD (and a few other things probably) but I still have to live in the world.

@tk yeah that’s roughly what I said. Okay fine. Technically “asshole” isn’t a disorder.
But anyways narcissism isn’t autism and shouldn’t be treated in the same manner.

When I’m in a #Nushell session I definitely go out of my way to find the flags in my CLI toolkit for JSON output.
oooh look at the pretty table

@rhosyn Yah, I did see more of that a few years back, folks wearing “asperger’s therefor asshole” like an ill-fitting glove. From today’s perspective it looks like a kind of masking?
Anyhow yay for building a fuller perspective!

@roknrol maybe. There was a note.

Wore contact lenses for the first part of the day. Took them out just now and Bouncy Dog watching close like “what are you pulling out of your eye? Is it a snack? Can I have it?”

@VE2UWY Yep. Anything I can’t prevent them from choking down is food. Scoreboard resets every five minutes.

Those mountains are cool
Well no. They are very warm. But they look neat.

@brohrer Ah, trial by fire. Truly the most effective training tool.
Mainly because employers don’t really know how to train their new hires
or pay for fire extinguishers
but the important part is EVERYONE IS A HERO AND NOW YOU CAN TOO
(no but really you’re right but also I have reservations clearly)

@thegibson Still! Things have quieted down significantly, but we’re still in monsoon season so there are greenish elements.
hackers.town: 2024-09-19 Thu 16:42
@thegibson we arrived mid-Spring, and Summer around here is not at all what I anticipated. But we’re heading into what’s the browning season elsewhere, so it’ll probably start looking like a desert again soon.

Learning a lot and it’s like nearly all work-relevant. That’s impressive.
hackers.town: 2024-09-19 Thu 19:17
@maddiefuzz yah, I had to recognize and acknowledge that useful work brain was full up for the day

the occasional rising tide of Mastodon vs Bluesky nerd-sniping (using ActivityPub and ATProto as their proxies)
got me thinking I should blog more
