The energy drink is so tasty (red bull strawberry apricot) but I know I’m gonna have so much regret because there’s always a bigger crash than with coffee.

but tasty

@jnkrtech it gives my eyeballs wings!

No it’s funny though. Red Bull’s the one that usually gives me more clarity. But I do get caffeine / sugar / WTF buzzes and crashes, regardless of source.

Overall coffee’s got the right balance of clarity vs buzz/crash. Red Bull more clarity but bigger buzz/crash. Monster picks me up and throws me down so fast all the clarity can give me is “something has clearly happened.”

Ate a banana and unintentionally left its stem on my desk. The cats decided it was their new toy. They looked absolutely crushed when I noticed and threw it out.

sufficiently hyperfocused on work that I forgot about the yay -Syu I had waiting on the other side of the monitor for the last hour and a half.

An #ADHD thing.

Stuck. Spent three hours writing down and confirming my steps so I could spend five minutes writing a question that I’m fairly sure can be answered in about thirty seconds. But I had to be sure I knew what question I was asking.

edit: or maybe it’s not an ADHD thing. I dunno. It’s a me thing. If I didn’t do that I’d be stuttery stumbly lost.

Starting to realize that if I ever wrote a technical book, it would just look like a well-organized and nicely typeset collection of blog posts.

“in this chapter I will explain two things wait no that’s too many things well okay only one thing but I will go into great detail about wait no people have lives nobody wants to read all that heck I don’t want to read all that”

If your book is too big to fit on an index card, get smaller index cards.

@rekiwi I go out of my way to avoid the Linux community, so I couldn’t tell you for sure. A few guesses:

rolling release means system capabilities can be hard to generalize at any point in time

large repo of user-contributed packages (AUR) means you can find multiple copies of just about anything, with unknown reliability and always a chance of breaking your system

“I use Arch BTW” that category of person who puts disproportionate value on their life / tech choices, and feels the need to inject mention of said choices into every conversation

Email notification out of the corner of my eye “Defend the Imperium in Space Marine 2” which I misread initially as “Defund the Imperium” and for a split second I was like “h*ck yeah WH40K finally getting interesting”

@A_bee @mwop I’m gonna use this next time they ask why I never ask questions or speak up during meetings.

“It’s called Being An Academic, Bob. Look it up.”

@seatek nitpicking inevitability is my passion.

still not quite doing all the bits I want it to, but my script is starting to turn a monolithic spec into — well right now just into a pretty graph showing a bunch of illegible notes.

But it is a pretty graph.

Obsidian note graph zoomed in on a breakdown of specification DSP0268, with many system components linked to the spec and each other
