Upgrading MBP to Sequoia. Watching a 6GB file download in a minute.

First off: yeesh (but still maybe 5% the size of a AAA game)

second off: flashback to begging the BBS admin for another hour of download time so I could get the rest of a 1MB text file (somebody’s Rolemaster house rules)

@bitprophet It’s weird, isn’t it?

@webology Have you been able to find out what their job is?

@webology sounds like a tough gig.

I hit the wrong switch when turning on the overhead fan.

Me: “Still a couple mystery switches there.”

@IamMrsGeek , with certainty: “It’s probably – something, I don’t know.”

Me: “Yes, I came to the same conclusion myself.”

@bitprophet @IamMrsGeek I always think of the Steven Wright line about a mystery switch he kept flicking until he got a letter from somebody in West Germany telling him to stop it.

Thought popped into my brain, and realized it’s an unintentionally effective summary of my initial days with macOS as primary:

I keep accidentally spending money.

Enough frustration trying to build an old Hugo-based site (deprecation warnings from 0.118 and later, so gosh nearly a year and a half?). Deprecations I can fix. But template errors mentioning things I never called? And errors expressed as Go panic dumps?

Got me re-reevaluating my already tenuous relationship with this particular SSG.

Well my Python code is pretty good at least. I mean — I like it.

@linux_mclinuxface the problem is I really like Hugo render hooks. My Markdown mostly looks like Markdown, and renders on the site as fancy as I like.

Too bad that’s buried in so many frustrations.
