A thing worth mentioning about this internal alarm of mine: it doesn’t go “oh we are now sufficiently rested that we may as well get up.” No no. It goes “YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WAKE UP GET UP FIRE FLOOD BAD FRENCH FRIES GET OUT OF BED AND FIX IT ALL”

@socketwench That’s a great way to articulate it. I’ve fumbled around “no surprises” and more recently “no enshittification” as appealing aspects of “dead” and explicitly retro projects. But “frozen social context” just rolls off the tongue much better.
(“controlled” is more accurate but “frozen” sounds better and the Technically Correct folks get a chance to win a prize)

During lunch break, confirmed that Dwarf Fortress + DFHack will at least launch, generate a world, and let me start a game on my MBP M1 14" with Whiskey.app.

@calcifer @cinebox With accounts in both (because hello yes I’ve got ADHD on line two), I’d hope the same, because they’re different enough approaches that it’d be crossing the streams.
