Adding a little repeated detail to the #drawing every night is kind of a stim.

@grmpyprogrammer Better than it might have been. I’ve done that a couple times, and needed that more times than I got it. Big acknowledgment to both of you for – clarity, I think is the word.

Added just enough Lua learning to make my #WezTerm config more palatable.

Also, started using conventional commits in my dotfiles.

Sometimes I worry I go too far.

Enjoying GoodNotes while I decide if I want to fork out for a SuperNote A6X2 or something.

Sorta like with cameras,the best tablet is likely the one I already have. Even if it is a few years old.

@genehack @m @mills_lane @perigrin @WuMargaret @Chanclatrix @EdCates @gizmomathboy @jacobydave @fitzgepn @futurebird @packetcat numbers don’t lie.

Course, they don’t tell the truth either.

They just kinda sit there waiting for you to do something.

@deafferret hi!

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 11:24

me, yesterday: “bsky follow lists are nifty and so convenient”

me, this morning: “why TF am I seeing Penny Arcade’s debunked-by-actual-history Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory? wait why TF am I following Penny Arcade?”

anyways that’s fixed

thing about working with Go code is sometimes it takes several minutes to figure out you’re in the wrong repo

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 15:19

@ireneista right back in your direction

(I’m always in multiple locations, but at least one of them is always some version of here)

Playing a disco playlist. Three notes into Rod Stewart’s original and my brain insisted I go listen to my preferred version.

If I keep saying “yay it’s the sausage dog!” whenever the chonky dachshund goes by our window, the owner’s gonna hear me at some point.

Especially if I say it a little louder each time.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 16:46

@m apparently.

But between Bouncy Dog barking and somebody shouting “SAUSAGE DOG” they just kind of keep eyes forward like bros at a urinal.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 16:48

@m feel free. Even the stuff I work hard on (for me) is CCBY4

Toots are free reign.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 16:51

@m BTW I also want to say out loud my gratitude for your expressions of appreciation. I like to think of myself as a clear and colorful communicator, but dealing with management that looks at me like I’m speaking Dutch – kinda takes the wind out of those sails.

So thanks! Keep being awesome.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 16:52

@GGMcBG I’m not sure Sausage Dog would make it.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 16:58

@GGMcBG yah you have to take care of the pups. With Bouncy Dog’s demeanor, in some years I’ll have to avoid walking near busy streets or he’ll hurt himself thinking he’s still got all his bounce.

@Linux_in_a_Bit There was a removable heating element that looked like a button or knob. You activated by pushing the knob in. When it popped up, the heating element was ready. You pulled that out and lit something on fire with it.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 17:29

@Linux_in_a_Bit sometimes you’d drop it and have a cool new scar.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 17:38

@spocko @futurebird it’s a terrible reason to want a clock, but I have seen and wanted this clock just so I could do that.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 17:58

@lmorchard yeah folks pushing AI like it’s cold fusion cool when I’m thinking it’s more like family size M&Ms cool

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 19:18

@squarism ah the hidden costs of AI – I mean M&Ms.

Pretty sure I saw a meteor. Or Skylab. No, that was a bit ago. I think it was a meteor.

Finding out that YAMLScript is Clojure bewilders and yet makes perfect sense, like much of Ingy döt Net’s work.

hackers.town: 2024-11-15 Fri 22:59

❝YAMLScript has a concept called “YeS Expressions” (aka ysexprs)❞
