@cwebber I mean it would have been nice if they looked at anything but the title but hey time is limited and we gotta get our dated pop culture references in, so I guess something had to go.

Starbucks going back to requiring purchase to sit, reversing a policy that was only put in place after the 2018 arrest of two people of color, is just them looking at Meta etc and realizing 2025 is their chance to take the mask back off.
My 90s coffee shop time was helping run a small quiet spot that had a smoking section & didn’t fuss about loiterers & malingerers, as long as they were chill & stopped using our restrooms for drugs.
So yeah. Starbucks has never been the good guy in my head.

Downgrading Dropbox is a four page parade of dark patterns.

@zkat I’ve been using someone’s clunky and abandoned but basically good enough Markdown toolkit for resume prep.
Dreading the customization I really wanted to do, and Typst Universe shows that folks have already done resumes in Typst? Neat!

There are two features I like in Markdown: description lists and reference links. Sure would be nice if Logseq supported them.
For that matter, it would be nice if more Markdown-based note apps supported them directly. Some show reference links normally but get confused when you click them.
Inline links are heckin’ tedious to update.

@vantablack “Jet City” was a cool name when the Space Needle was new and Boeing was basically the employer of note.

@eleventy @eb This demo is a crime to logic and good taste.
I can’t wait to try it on my site.

@eleventy @eb (no but really I have a tab open to quarto.org and three tabs talking about Org mode so I actually have been pondering good code eval approaches for my blog.)

@eb @eleventy good stuff. Thank you!

@maddiefuzz @IamMrsGeek Ooh thanks! It is not too distasteful for me at all! Last gig was a GPU hyperscaler.
What’s the shop / URL? Wanting to build context.

zig zen is way less ambiguous than python -mthis, which is good but if you thought folks get their feathers twisted over “Pythonic,” I suspect you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Also, I think every programming language should have some command line option to emit its developers’ driving philosophies.

@ramsey when CSS resets go too far.
hackers.town: 2025-01-14 Tue 21:26
@ramsey The current face of my blog’s current iteration is styled with Tailwind (resume building) and it’s so annoying. Devised by and for people who hate that HTML is a document language instead of an application language.

@maddiefuzz @IamMrsGeek clicking (first glance oh heck yeah), reviewing, and will almost certainly be following up with the earlier handle.
