@WuMargaret I got better rest than the night before, at least!

@m yes

Cartoon by Gahan Wilson with a crowd of people in ceremonial dress around an altar labeled “NOTHING”; a curious onlooker asks one of the participants “Is nothing sacred?”

@tangentnotes update: the alt-as-caption thing isn’t Obsidian specifically, it’s a CSS snippet that embeds the alt attribute as formatted :after content. It’s a hack. Obsidian doesn’t do anything interesting with images on its own.

So

Do whatever you like!

@djsundog Hey but we wouldn’t re-binge Mork & Mindy if not for

you know

(waves around vaguely at y’know – everything)

@lmorchard @craigmaloney@octodon.social not one bit

@qlp “thousands and thousands” could be a strain, but Pagefind is coping pretty well with client-side for one thousand pages on my site.

Though honestly I am already thinking hard about a little Laravel something for server-side search. You’ll probably want to as well, or some serverless function.

@Researchbuzz I do remember one that went by “Manny Pause”

hackers.town: 2025-01-21 Tue 16:43

@Researchbuzz oh absolutely.

And I think remembering the little kitty claws gesture she liked to do when sharing the name, I think I spelled it wrong. “Manny Paws” maybe?

hackers.town: 2025-01-21 Tue 16:49

@Researchbuzz I was maybe twelve so no doubt there were layers I missed.

@rgegriff That is

incoherent

hackers.town: 2025-01-21 Tue 17:32

@rgegriff Like I could only describe that as DDOS – but why?

hackers.town: 2025-01-21 Tue 17:34

@WuMargaret As long as he stays cute about it, I’m eventually cooperative. He’s pretty good about staying on the playful side of aggressive.

@pjsliney @Scmbradley @rgegriff now I’m wondering if that lone URI ever featured in a “HOW I DID A WEBSCRAPE” blog post or gist out there. You know, far enough back for some Chinese LLM to get trained on it?

Well.

Still doesn’t explain why 14k non-proofreading folks wanted to write a Web scraper with an LLM. Or fewer folks, setting up some server racks?

(big confuzzled shrug and meanwhile my brain tries to find a significant hook for 14384)
