More folks supporting Mermaid diagrams and that’s great no really it is but I’ve already moved on to Pintora (because it doesn’t need a browser).

Oh god I am a hipster.

There’s senior devs with mad architecture skills. There’s senior devs with deep algorithmic magic.

Then there’s me, who accidentally lights himself on fire dozens of times a week for ~25 years.

Sure I’m a full-grown adult who enjoys sliding on flat surfaces in socks. As long as I don’t hit anything I’m fine.

I hit something and that is when I remember I’m 50.

Got Logseq auto-committing and hooked up to a remote repo. “Automatic” push is still prompted by a script I have to manually run, and I still have to pull when editing on other machines, but long as I don’t jostle anything it’s good.

I spent all day working in Emacs today and only an hour of that was reconfiguring Emacs.

A new record!

Wait no “All of Us Are Dead”

Got that mixed up somehow.

I hope the football fans out there enjoyed watching the Superbowl. For my part I very much enjoyed not watching it. Nice that it’s a big enough world we can both have a nice day.

We blocked the yarn shelf as a temporary measure to protect our textiles from the cats.

With a comforter.

A thick, soft, cozy comforter.

Well at least Barry left the yarn alone this time.

You know “There’s an XKCD for that” right? Well a much riskier version of that game is “There’s an OGLAF for that.”

Anyways, I get to work on a CLI tool.

@jaywilliams agreed. Lots of folks pushing for Nix, and I see the promise, but setup has been somewhere between “tedious” and “Sisyphean” for me.

Macports is an acceptable compromise. Still get package issues, but there is (again, for me) a clearer path to fixing / working around them.

With a lot of careful, thoughtful refactoring, I have taken a Python file from 1800 lines of code to 2100 lines of code wait hang on

hackers.town: 2022-02-10 Thu 10:27

Going with Macports this time on the macOS device. Brew has more users, more packages, and doesn’t require sudo. And still I prefer Macports. Variants, port select, better command syntax for my brain.

@jaywilliams Vimwiki’s in my regular rotation of tools, that’s for sure.

Was trying a git repo approach for synchronization, but I think I’ll go back to synchronized folders.

hackers.town: 2022-02-07 Mon 09:58

Point of clarity on this: (n)vim and Vimwiki aren’t featured prominently in my “low context shift” flow because they’re easy. No no no.
