What’d we do tonight?

We watched Coming to America 2.

Did we enjoy it?

We enjoyed it very much.

Even the lampshading?

Especially the lampshading.

My fake data generator should probable take less than 20 minutes to finish. Just saying.

@pixelpaperyarn It’s better. They didn’t flip the woke switch or anything, but it’s better.

Flashback scenes include cringe moments from the first movie. If you’re interested but hesitant about whole family viewing, you might screen it first.

Filling in the docstrings on my project so when those who come after click “documentation” in the Django admin panel they won’t be more annoyed than before they clicked.

hackers.town: 2021-03-05 Fri 23:01

I’d click that first one but I know I’m only going to be disappointed.

Somehow having the “one more turn” problem with code. Just one more idea…

If I billed correctly for the hours, they’d have a heart attack and die.

That’s like at least three problems right there.

hackers.town: 2021-03-04 Thu 03:14

BTW also confirmed that yes indeed: full test run is 10 minutes on Windows, 10 minutes on macOS, and somehow 17 minutes on Linux Manjaro.

That thing where you double-check the etymology of a word before you use it.

I know I can’t be the only one.

hackers.town: 2021-03-03 Wed 09:28

🤔 Looking at my Django project and thinking a particular application should be split into two. Not this split second, but I’ll probably look up refactoring resources later.

I did a thing with Django Unicorn and a table and it’s a terrible idea I should feel terrible but that’ll be after I’m done being all giddy.

I’m starting to associate panda bears with math, thanks to Pandas.

Trying to figure out if I’m mad or not. I’m starting to get used to it. Even the math part.

I can’t think when people are watching.

Maybe not 100% technically correct but it certainly describes what my particular version of brain lock feels like.

Need to have access to VPN for more than my normal 15 minutes in the middle of the night, so switched over to the MBP and a nightmare aesthetics of adapter cables everywhere.

96% CPU for five minutes

now that’s gotta be one of my more impressively bad database queries

if it ever finishes i might run an explain on it

hackers.town: 2021-03-01 Mon 00:55

8473 queries for an admin form and an inline formset containing four items.

I don’t even know how I managed that.

hackers.town: 2021-03-01 Mon 01:18

Right, right, right. Okay. The dropdown menus. Okay maybe I don’t need so much outside information in an object’s stringification. Lesson learned.

Just did a little style scrubdown of the thing with org branding guide by my side.

Feeling pretty pleased with myself. Instead of generic Bootstrap, it’s generic corporate!

hackers.town: 2021-02-28 Sun 00:05

I mean.

The original intent was to adjust padding on a form element for the dashboard report functionality I was supposed to be working on, but WHATEVER.

Was writing a Great Quote Tweet (well I think it was going to be great), accidentally tapped elsewhere, and Twitter lost it without so much as a draft.

Fine. I’ll make it a blog post.

I just finished a pair programming session and my butt hurts.

From sitting down too long.

You people and your gutter minds.

Finally sank in that the new brochureware cookiecutter site design is Tailwind.

Not a knock on Tailwind. A knock on the folks who aren’t trying to do a little more with it.

Dogs want to go for a walk.

I don’t want to.

Dogs wander off, completely drain their water bowl, come back and stare intently.

This is blackmail.

Spent a solid hour trying to debug a problem with a timeline graph showing no results whenever I picked an arbitrary date. Clean code, add more logging, puzzle why tests pass.

Friends, I’d been arbitrarily picking dates before any data had been added.
