Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country’s stock portfolios.

Logging accomplishments that weren’t on my list helps remind me that yes I was useful yesterday.
It also helps me improve the task lists as I build understanding of life priorities.
Don’t promise what you won’t do!

Me, talking to @IamMrsGeek about her extremely micromanaging manager:
He needs to lay the fuck off. His style isn’t good in the best of times. It sure as hell doesn’t help to make sure every flea gets a blowjob when there’s a global crisis.
Sometimes I wish my brain would warn me when it’s about to turn a phrase.

@thenomad @IamMrsGeek Enjoy! It’s my gift to the world.

Just tried to pay a bill with my driver’s license, if you’re wondering how the old brain cells are doing today.

Hard deadline around the corner with catastrophic consequences.
Ah, there’s my executive function. I knew it was around here somewhere.

This is why I made sure @IamMrsGeek’s WFH webcam setup pointed away from the hall.
It’s still too soon for them to see the true face of WFH.

And debug the system, not the code. Take a recent memorable production fire. If they’re junior, walk them through it. If they’re senior, let them walk you through it.

Realizing that my recent “Stay healthy!” signoff in chats and emails is probably going to be a long term habit.

@nixfreak when that show came out my mom was a dispatcher for the sheriff’s department and her boyfriend was highway patrol. They watched that show a lot.
Good thing it was a good show.

Even one shelf of books is a lot when you’re packing to move.
hackers.town: 2020-03-24 Tue 20:28
@thomasfuchs Things are looking up!
hackers.town: 2020-03-24 Tue 20:33
@cstanhope I’m looking forward to regaining a second shelf’s worth, despite the moving challenges.
My current library is computer books with a shelf life and books that are too pretty for digital.
Leaving me with a shelf full of beatiful, large, heavy hardbacks.

Ah. The low bridge is also closed to regular traffic.
Saturday’s gonna be fun.
