Got this thought in the back of my head about implementing pieces of django_tables2 and django_filter functionality with htmx and it’s a great idea and there’s no way I could figure it out oh wait unless i start with really teeny bits but no i better get back to work
My main challenge using Python libraries maps 1:1 with my main challenge trying to live in the world: I rarely have any idea what everyone thinks is so obvious.
In its defense, Python rarely seems offended when I miss something “obvious.”
It doesn’t make it any clearer, but at least it doesn’t call me names.
But I tell you what some days in Python I somehow miss both Perl’s dwimminess and Pascal’s firm slap.

It took django-tables2, django-filters, django-tables2-column-shifter, crispy-forms, and a fair amount of coffee, but I no longer feel obliged to use datatables for this particular view. I am so very pleased.
Now for the other half dozen datatable-dependent views.
or maybe some of the work i actually said i was gonna do first
