Woo hoo! I made it to Python 2.7 throwing an exception about invalid filenames! Everything’s still horribly broken, but now it’s horribly broken in the bundled ancient Python!

Confession: I only started writing Python at someone else’s request a few years ago. Sure I’d slide it into projects where appropriate but “hey I’d like you to write some Python for me” is still kind of novel.
What I’m saying is I haven’t looked at 2.x since ~3.1

So: I finally got the tool working. Management stressed the importance of prompt action on the task list. I started working on said task list, even getting partway through the first item.
Then I lost power, which has been out ~6h with no estimate for repair.
